Today I got to crack open my kiln after 2 days of “cooking” time… it’s always a nerve wracking experience because there are so many variables that contribute to whether each individual piece will survive or take out its neighbours in its demise.
Mediations are often quite nerve wracking experiences too, even for mediators – especially when you have known volatile (legal) personalities attending. Until we collectively transport to utopia (and my mediation expertise is rendered redundant) it is worth considering how the volatility, or even the preemptive dread of possible volatility, can ricochet off and into innocent others.
Like my clay vessels – I have observed that we increase our chances of creating moments of beauty through: evenness of temperature, a physical void separating us from the direct source of heat and patience for the process to complete.
Happy negotiating!
